Park County Special Education COOP

About the Program

Program Description:

Shields Valley Public Schools is a member of the Park County Special Education Cooperative.  Other member school districts include Gardiner, Arrowhead, Cooke City and Pine Creek. The purpose of the Cooperative is for member schools to pool resources in an effort to provide special education services to eligible students.

Through the Cooperative each participating district will ensure that all children with disabilities residing within the boundaries of the Cooperative, including children with disabilities who are homeless children or are wards of the State, and children with disabilities attending private schools, regardless of the severity of their disability, and who are in need of special education and related services are identified, located, and evaluated.  Children who qualify are provided services ages 3-21.

The Cooperative shall supply those services which are not otherwise available to students with disabilities in the Participating Districts, and that are necessary for the provision of a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) under IDEA and State Special Education Regulations.  Generally, the Cooperative employs individuals who serve children in more than one of the Participating Districts.

The Cooperative may employ the following specialists to provide services to identified students:  director(s), school psychologist(s), speech pathologist(s), occupational therapist(s), physical therapist(s). The Park County Special Education Cooperative is located on the Arrowhead School District campus.
